I wrote the lyrics to a song called Outta Gas in 2025 and just felt like it could be much better. This version carries a much more positive outlook and I am liking it much better. I was always meant to be a humorous approach to running out of gas but the previous version focused on someone partying late and running out of gas and that being a negative experience. I rewrote the song lyrics to focus on someone unphased at the fact they ran out of gas because they are going to see their girlfriend no matter what. I remember the feeling that nothing could bother you because the attraction to someone was so strong that’s all that mattered. The world could be burning around you and it wouldn’t be as big of a deal as that newness of physical attraction. Very positive. Enjoy!!

I wrote the lyrics to this song and produced it for my partner in life, Heidi Niles. She is an avid outdoor lover who must have time to feel the sun and be on a mountain top often. Society’s fast pace life style in Western Culture interrupts that and can sometimes keep us all from being around nature to regain some connection with the earth. This is that message we all need to hear sometimes to remind ourselves we need to stop and take a break, get reconnected, and gain our bearings of simple life. I chose a female vocal for this song so that Heidi can cover it with her own voice. Once she does I will release that cover version as well 🙂 Enjoy!!

I wrote the lyrics to a song called Unplug and Dance last year, but I was never really happy with them. I spent a day rewriting and testing lyrics until I got what I wanted and now I love it. The rhythm was driven by a bit of beatboxing and it took quite a few iterations to get this composition with all my additions.

I wrote the lyrics for this song to express a feeling that I and maybe many others have felt while in a relationship. This song is very personal to me as it says what many of us may be thinking while living with our partner, wife, husband, etc. After the newness wears off sometimes you may become room mates instead of lovers. The question, what do you do? Torture yourself because its comfortable and familiar, or do you find a way to fix it or move on? This song is only the acknowledgement of what’s happening. Its up to you to decide the path forward.

This is the 2nd version of a music video because I cannot leave things alone. I fixed some issues with the first one I made and adjusted some transitions to make it even better. I’ve been working on the lyrics for this song for over a year and finally refined them into this funk dance composition driven by my very own beat box voice sample which drives the rhythm and melodic foundation. The song was produced within suno using that beat box sample and my lyrics along with my styling and genre directions. Yes I know… that’s AI generated vocals and instruments, and there is currently a stigma associated with using AI tools to create music. I don’t care as I view AI as a tool not unlike synthetic instruments, auto tune, and every other tool musicians use. The music video was produced by me over a 4 day span (about 32 hours editing) of time using 92 scenes plus footage of me actually performing the beat box sample used in the song.

Way Too Noon is my expression of being a late owl type of person. This edition is a fun island groove improvement. I am always attempting to make my song lyrics deliver the message in a better way and as the tools get better I experiment to get better sounding instruments and vocals. This edition of the song uses influence from my own vocal profile. I sang some of the song and had the AI tool create a voice with that sample. It doesn’t sound exactly like me because I can’t sing but it is similar in frequency and cadence. I’ve tweaked my lyrics for this song a few times for this one and to be honest I am still on the fence. However, with that said… I love this composition that I got from the AI tool.

Okay, I had to write the lyrics to a “drinking song” because dang it, every big country singer seems to have some song that’s about drinking in a bar or on a tropical beach. And as dumb as I think drinking is, I do love the grooves that surround some of those drinking songs. Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar along with Luke Bryan’s One Margarita are some fun examples. I’d like to think that if a famous singer performed my song, Tippin’ That Bottle Again, it would be a hit as well 🙂

I wrote the lyrics to this song to say what most are afraid to say. There I said it! It was a fun song to write, but I am still zeroing in on the exact words to make this perfect. I think I am close. I wanted this to be a fun way to express that honesty about sexual attraction. This is another song I am leaning into my own vocal influence when generating iteration. It uses a vocal profile of my voice to influence the vocals which is why the voice is deeper and words are held longer with limited vibrato.

A fun, energetic, dance song I wrote the lyrics for so all those folks who are, like me, caught up in the fast paced chaos we know as life can take 3 minutes to bounce around. It’s an acknowledgement that we may lack much needed stillness. A lot of us also loose imagination as we become “life experienced” and that can lead to a dull not so awesome time.

I wrote the lyrics to this song to express that anxiety of being in new situations without any experience. I focused on building a relationship as a young man moving from dating to fatherhood. But in reality you can relate it to anything. This song was literally an challenge to myself to see if I could create the lyrics to my story using the hook “What Now?” My goal was to base the chorus around this small question and place it at the end. Not gonna lie it was tough and took me a couple of days to figure out but now I love this song!

This is a fun country style break up / I don’t need you song that for me was a “break through” in learning how to create a catchy hook and simplify lyrics. I was completely unhappy after writing the first version of the lyrics, then decided to give myself another chance, ha! Now, it is one of my favorites. I’m finding that as the tools progress, I can get more detailed about how I want the song to deliver my lyrics as a vocal and this is making me rewrite older song lyrics.

Just for fun! Writing songs like this makes me smile and hopefully this one will make you smile as well as dance around. Family friendly humor about things you may not want to do in the buff. This is the second version with a slightly different tempo and delivery.

🎧 Lyrics by yours truly, Shawn Hill a.k.a. VASTman Music.

This is a fun get away from it all type of vibe. I keep tweaking my words but the gist is a metaphorical or literal vacation from the daily grind and routine or rebirth of spirituality. I have experimented with different genres but keep leaning into the gospel.

🎧 Lyrics by yours truly, Shawn Hill a.k.a. VASTman Music.

I feel like those poor guys from the group A-Ha who kept releasing the song “Take On Me” until it became a hit with their music video in 1985. Rebound Again, is one of the first stories I tried to write in lyrics that describes lifting yourself back up after emotional let downs. A breakup song that also covers other failing aspects of someone’s life. I personally love this arrangement and story but I have yet to receive any positive feedback on it except for my cousin Cory who thinks its the best song ever. He says we need to create a music video showing Brad Pitt as a boxer coming back from a defeat. The original is a country style and I leaned into soul for the last two variants. The vibe is dark but inspirational

A gritty Cajun vibe edition of my song called Greener On The Other Side. This song is about leaving your old life behind and finding a better path. I keep playing with the delivery of my lyrics and this particular version was one I sang and had the AI tool do a cover of me. I wanted some lyrics spoken as if telling a story and I could not get the result without singing it myself.

🎧 Lyrics by yours truly, Shawn Hill a.k.a. VASTman Music.

This is a quality update for a joyful love song I wrote the lyrics to at the request of my cousin, Cory Hill. His life experience with his wife was the inspiration. It was a challenge to convert someone else’s ideas into a relatable song. Now, one of my favorites. I think I’ve listened to it a hundred times.

🎧 Lyrics by yours truly, Shawn Hill a.k.a. VASTman Music.

Where Do I Belong is a story about self reflection. I wrote the lyrics to express this internal battle many of us have about our place in society. The feeling is completely produced my culture and societal norms and as those variable shift some start to feel like outcasts or loners, posers, misfits and even just plain old alone. This is that battle. I have three versions of this song but I think the heavy metal edition, for now, is delivering the message best.

If you like the lyrics and meaning of this song but Heavy Metal isn’t your thing, look for the other versions on my channels.

🎧 Lyrics by yours truly, Shawn Hill a.k.a. VASTman Music.

This was another fun music video to make. I wanted to help express the story my lyrics describe. I wanted to see what I could create to visualize the concept of overcoming depression, sadness and self doubt. Let me know what you think in the comments below. The band is completely fictional but adds to the overall vibe and feel. Hope you enjoy!

If you like lyrics and meaning of this song but Heavy Metal isn’t your thing, I created a version of it in 11 other genres as an experiment. Turns out I love them all! I have literally listened to all 11 in a row like an album. Check out the multi-genre editions https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ncghphDCS5WihUXW1plHiLxyoBLgyKmk4

🎧 Lyrics by yours truly, Shawn Hill a.k.a. VASTman Music.

I had a love hate relationship with this song until I decided to lean a different direction regarding the genre. I tweaked my lyrics a bit and went down the unplugged bluegrass dirt road. It can have many meanings to many people but my words for me are about self realization and introspective understanding. If someone can help you know yourself they can literally take away your misery. I also thought a lot about when you as a person hope someone you love or even a stranger you barely know can make you feel better. Some of us humans can be very lonely. Keep an open mind and turn the lights off when you crank this up.

🎧 Lyrics by yours truly, Shawn Hill a.k.a. VASTman Music.

Another lean into country, Just One Look is my attempt at expressing love at first sight. I have experienced a fast heartbeat when the mere glance at a beautiful woman occurs. Biology is a strong thing! If you can make it last you are ahead of many. I envision this as a soundtrack to a romantic movie where two people eventually get together after having seen each other from a distance. Ahhhwww

🎧 Lyrics by yours truly, Shawn Hill a.k.a. VASTman Music.

This is literally the first song I wrote the lyrics to that I loved. I love singing this in my car and at home. No one seems to care that it exists but I do! Probably because there are a million songs called Ricochet on spotify and apple music. If you like soulful love ballads… crank it.

🎧 Lyrics by yours truly, Shawn Hill a.k.a. VASTman Music.

I wrote this thinking about my girlfriend and partner in crime. It was a valentine gift for her in 2026 and I made a video for her with this song as the soundtrack. 😉 Listen and you will understand the intent and meaning. I have made multiple version of this song but none hit home as much as this bad boy. My words found their home in this love ballad.

Single

Super fun song that makes fun of regifting things you never wanted for Christmas. POP/Hip Hop style melody with both male and female vocals.

Single

This is my take on the old classic “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth” Done with a fun Hip Hop melody. Somewhat challenging to write but I think the final result was worth it 🙂

Single

I wrote this as a message to just shake your body instead of worrying about knowing how to dance. Its a fun kid-like family friendly dance song with a POP style melody.

Single

So, I had this song idea in my head and couldn’t let it go. Thinking about cruisin’ around on a bicycle and looking for Santa as a kid inspired my lyrics with some humor added in.

Single

A more modernized version of “We wish you a Merry Christmas” with 90s slang from the hip hop era. I wanted something kind of updated but still leaning into that classic song.

Single

I had to write this! I kept the classic melody and rewrote the original lyrics of the twelve days of Christmas to make a humorous parody about having to do house cleaning. To get the correct melody I had to sing this and then produce a cover of it.

Single

A fun hip hop infused dance party song with a sexy vibe. I wrote this purely for fun and my own selfish desire to have something cool to listen to.

Single

A gospel infused message of good will I wrote to spark a positive change. I started writing this and the first few drafts where way too preachy so I think I found a good balance.

Single

Just for fun! Writing songs like this makes me smile and hopefully this one will make you smile as well as dance around. Family friendly humor about things you may not want to do in the buff.

Single

A gospel infused acknowledgement of how having everything all the time, may not be that great. I see need to simplify in my life so figured I would write a song expressing that need.

Single

A fun hip hop party groove that is also my first lyric work that drops the complex storylines and focuses on a mood with a catchy hook. I had to learn its okay to write just a good vibe.

Single

Okay, this is a fun energetic country song I wrote because sometimes its nice to think that the old days without all the technology around us was just better for people. Less connected 🙂

Album

15 of my top songs lyric works made into a classic rock album. I absolutely love these tracks and the messages written into each song. Rebound Again, Ricochet, and Greener on The Other Side tend to get played a lot!

Album

A follow up album to my Rock Gospel Revival with 7 more classic rock style songs that just kick ass. Sit back and listen as you feel like you entered a church of rock music with Take My Misery and Broken All My Chains.

Single – Drops 10-28-2025

An unplugged, intimate version of a song I have rewritten multiple times until it felt right. If you have lost someone, this may be the acknowledgement that says out loud what you feel.

Single – Drops 11-07-2025

An unplugged, intimate version of a song released on the Rock Gospel Revival Album. Writing this song was very personal to me as it says what many of us may be thinking while living with a partner, wife, husband, etc. After the newness wear off.
